I entered the ranks of barbershopping in 1962 at the invitation of a fellow barber. I joined the Minnetonka Clippers immediately after hearing the ringing chords and have enjoyed them ever since and will through eternity. A move to Mankato resulted in forming the Jefferson Lords and consequently the Mankato Chorus. The "Lords" won the Land O' Lakes district novice competition and later scored just short of the Roadrunners in the 1972 District competition. Do you remember them? Another move found me directing the Lakeville Chorus from 1982-85. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, so I did in 1984, sharing the stage with three great guys and some of the best experiences of my life.
After the Roadrunners retirement, I have sung in three other quartets singing a variety of music, mostly gospel. I also serve as vocal coach for my church praise singers. The Senior Contest served to remind us of the pleasure of watching audiences laugh at our antics. It's a joy to be back!
While singing barbershop, I have been a barber, gas company sales person, agent of IDS, and, primarily, a realtor. I presently travel as a representative for a national real estate company. A visit to Wolfe prompted a purchase near him in Mesa where we, wife Joan and I, hope to copy Norm and Ive and live between Prior Lake, Minnesota, and Mesa, Arizona.
After 41 years, four wonderful children, seven even more wonderful grandchildren, and seven moves, we've enjoyed harmony in our family . Even though Joan still doesn't like afterglows that go into the next day -- or any afterglow for that matter -- she isn't perfect....but close! Laughter is medicine, on stage and at home.
